Sometimes I wonder is there any characteristics or factors that effect student performance in positive or negative manner, and whether it can be measured or not, so I decided to study this question using (data)

In this analysis I have used student score performance dataset. The dataset has been downloaded from Kaggle, and you can find it in this link

After exploring the dataset, I came up with five questions:

  1. Does parent educational background urge their children to complete test preparation course
  2. Who has better score performance based on gender
  3. Whether test preparation course increase the student score
  4. Is race and ethnicity play important role in student’s performance
  5. Is parent educational background effect student’s performance
  6. Does parent educational background urge their children to complete test preparation course

If we take the percentage of the student’s parent that has higher educational background their children tend to complete the test preparation course

2. Who has better score performance based on gender

As it shown in the bar chart female students has higher score than male students

3. Whether test preparation course increase the student score

The student that has completed the test preparation course has gained higher score

4. Is race and ethnicity play important role in student’s performance

Race and Ethnicity effects is differ for each different group, and group (E) has the highest score with 5 marks difference from the second group, which is group (D)

5. Is parent educational background effect student’s performance

higher educational background of the parents reflect positively in students score

With more data we could build Machine Learning model that predicts student score based on the above mentioned features

Conclusion

After analyzing the data, I’ve found interesting insights & results:

  1. Females scores better than males in exams most of the time
  2. Studying additional courses & previous exams will help students in gaining higher exam score
  3. Surpassingly race/ethnicity effect student performance
  4. If the parents has higher educational background their children most of them will care more about study in school, by taking additional courses which will increase their chance to get better exam scores

To the students:

STUDY WELL PREPARE WELL !
